Hello beautiful Souls. Today my thoughts are about embracing our talents and do what works for you.
We all strive to push ourselves just a little bit further. Sometimes just a tad past our comfort zones. Although it is good to try improve ourselves it is equally important to know our own personal strengths. I speak from experience here. I have had a few operations, health set backs and dealt with emotional issues too. I feel the two go hand in hand.
I believe your mind is your body..... as your body is your mind. So I started to understand that there were physical things I was unable to do any longer. I became saddened and depressed. Then I realised it was time to focus on what I could do and not waste negative energy on what I was no longer able to do.
I started to rise up and work on what I could do. So, I knew I could no longer be an active sports athletic person. But I could walk! So , I started a walking group for woman who could not do hiking and strenuous exercise, yet we could still be active within their physical limitations and it fulfills my need to walk too. We are all able to exercise ...even in a wheelchair!
I was watching people with far less physical ability in wheelchairs yet they found alternative options to do the things they wanted or needed to do. I led an initiative to raise funds for wheelchairs, realising that this was a need to help their freedom from a space of limitation. I realised I was actually my own limitations!
We can replace the needs we have by simply modifying how we do things. So, what you can do is focus on making your life peaceful and fulfilled. I have learnt to be satisfied with my lot in life. When my husband had to learn to walk again after a serious, accident I told him..."This is your life, let's make a choice to make it the best we can." We are all given talents in this life. Sometimes one ability is exchanged for another.
I have learnt that 75% of my energy is to be spent on what makes me happy and what I can do well. 25% of the energy left is finding resources to assist me achieve what I is not meant to be my calling.
This week I will be having knee surgery and am reminded how physical pain is also there as a warning and reason to notary push past the pain!
Find your happiness and seek your talent. But.... Embrace what you can do and leave behind what you can't do. There is a place for everyone. Many of us are spending too much energy on the things we struggle to do. Find your own comfort zone.
