Memories … can you choose what you remember?

Hello beautiful Souls. My message today is about our memories.
We remember because the connections between our brains' neurons change each experience and primes the brain for the next experience. Our brain will also forget some memories because otherwise it would become swamped with superfluous back log of memories and become inefficient.
When we elect to suppress a memory and "block" it out, it is not lost. Triggers will bring back that memory. Our nostalgia and emotions give us an easier ability to recall events and dates, like anniversaries and birthdays. These are positive memories.
We also recall happy moments and connections to loved ones. It's hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember. This can be both positive and negative. We are blessed if we can give without remembering and receive without forgetting.
When we continue to hold on to negative memories and rehash the "bad" memories we can do more damage than good. We have to deal with the event and offer it acceptance. It was what it was and its time to let it be. We have to heal to live in the present. The important part of negative memories is to look at them as lessons instead of continued hurt.
Often in life we forget the things we should most definitely remember and tend to remember the things we should rather forget. Today I hope to remind you to try forget the mistake and rather remember the lesson. There are various techniques to help one repair memories we wish to discard or make less evasive to a healthy life.
