Hello beautiful Souls. My message is about caring and the emotions connected. Understanding the difference in all kinds of love give our lives a deeper reference to our connection to our Soul.
The definition of caring is a strong need to feel concern or protection for someone or something. It is an action. The various forms of caring differ from person to person and some emotions will over-lap each other. Eg: To love, is a deep affection for someone or something with an intense adoration and attachment with strong emotions. Sometimes this kind of love can be unconditional with a strong commitment.
Sympathy is the ability to care and have kindness to understand what someone else is going through, even though you don't feel the same way. It is a feeling of pity or sorrow for someone elses' misfortune without judgement. Empathy is an ability to understand and share the feelings of others as if we are physically or emotionally having them ourselves. Compassion is the sympathetic understanding and the consciousness of others' distress with the desire to help or alleviate their issues and show genuine concern.
The practical observation and example is of the dog stuck in a hole. Sympathy would be to feel sad and worried for the dog. Empathy would be feeling the pain and suffering of the dog.
Compassion would be getting a rope and ladder and helping the dog out of the hole.
All these forms of caring and kindness need to have boundaries and good intent. All forms of care can ignite worry and anxiety, especially if we take on and absorb the energy of someone or something we care about deeply. In order to truly empathise with another person, we have to be open minded and willing to believe them as they see their experience. We have to be careful not to believe what we perceive or image their journey to be. It’s a space of holding space and not projecting your feelings.
It is so important to have love and kindness in our lives, both the giving and receiving of it. We need to care for and be cared for. It is not unconditional, it reciprocal love… this kind of care. We all need someone to believe and respect how we feel. Be kind and be gentle on yourself too.
